OT IN CHARITY MOTOTAXI RACE

James Howland-Harris (WW 2007-09) and Graham Voisey, a member of the Tonbridge School IT support staff, have teamed up to form “Bumblin ‘N’ Tumblin”, working to try and raise money for the charity Practical Action.

To raise money, they are going to attempt The Adventurists Mototaxi Junket, a thousand mile race across Peru of mountain, desert, rainforest, and very little actual road, on a three-wheeled motorbike taxi usually meant for traversing short distances of tarmacked road, not some of the least hospitable terrain on earth! They leave in late December, and barring breaking down, getting lost, or losing their trusty vehicle (or themselves) down a thousand foot drop on single track road, hope to return in the middle of January 2012.

Practical Action are an incredible charity, using technology that we often take for granted to tackle poverty and deprivation. Their work spreads across the globe, from Latin America to Sudan and Southern Africa, to Nepal and South Asia, working to tackle problems such as access to clean water and electricity, how to grow and store crops more efficiently, or how to make houses and schools more flood and earthquake resistant. So much of this work could not happen without charitable giving, please look at their website http://practicalaction.org/ and see for yourself what a difference Practical Action makes in people’s lives.

If you would like to sponsor James and Graham, and help Practical Action continue their incredible work, please go to their Just Giving page: http://www.justgiving.com/bnt or have a look at our Team Website to find out more. They would be immensely grateful for any donation you can make, and will make sure they let you know how they do!
