The OT cricketers beat Oundle Rovers by 67 runs yesterday to win the Cricketer Cup for the fourth time in the last six years. Given a rousing start by James Pyemont's 54 off 45 balls, we slumped to 150 for 8 only to be rescued by a ninth wicket partnership between Chris Hammond (48 not out off 52 balls) and Olly Howick (a pugnacious 47 not out off 28 balls). The innings closed on 251 for 9.
On a dry and dusty wicket, the Tonbridge spinners were on top from the moment Matt Barham took his second wicket. He bowled his 10 overs straight through to take 3 for 22 as Oundle subsided, despite a late flourish, to 184 all out, leaving the OTs victors by 67 runs.
There is a report on the game by Geoffrey Dean in today's Times.
