The OT Society asked Tom May, a team-mate of Jonny Wilkinson's at Newcastle Falcons, to comment on the great man's performance at Twickenham on Saturday.
This was his response:
I'm not surprised that Wilko did so well at the weekend, as he has been training with us for some time now and looked in great shape. I think with the injury being to his kidney, once he was allowed to get moving again after about three weeks, he's been able to focus on his fitness, which showed at the weekend, as he didn't seem to be blowing at all!
I just hope that as normal English fans normally do, pressure to win every game and by a good margin is not expected. The Scots did OK but I think there will be far tougher tests for the lads this year, but I'm sure Jonny will do fine in them all. I just hope he stays fit so that he can come back to us after the Six Nations and help the lads at the club get Newcastle out of the lower end of the table, pushing for European qualification.
