WE DID IT!

The School beat Wellington 11-6 on Saturday in a game that was more one-sided than the score suggests!

The only try of the match was, inevitably, scored by James Short early on. We were never behind after that, probably had 75% of the possession and dominated the game territorially. We were given a succession of potentially kickable penalties, but chose to kick into the corner each time and failed to score from any of the ensuing line-outs.

So, when the inevitable Wellington fight back began towards the end of the match we were only 11-6 ahead rather than out of sight and a converted try would have given them the game. They came close a couple of times, but it was not to be and, as the final whistle sounded, a horde of Tonbridgians invaded the field to salute their heroes.

Truth to tell, this year's side was a bit short of outstanding talent, so the accodales must go once again to the coaching team of Nathan Leamon and Graeme Gales.
