CHARITY REQUEST FROM OT

Sebastian Bullock (SH 1979-83), currently a Housemaster at Cheltenham College, is about to join an expedition that is attempting to complete a journey that has never been done before - from the lowest point on the earth’s surface to the highest. There is a website: www.everestmax.com where you will find details. He is on the fundraising trail and has asked for the letter below to be made available to members of the OT Society. You can contact him by email on: bullock.sebastian@cheltcoll.gloucs.sch.uk.

Everestmax

January 2006

Dear Old Tonbridgian,

I am writing to ask for your support for the Everestmax expedition and the three charities that are connected with the expedition. Please visit the site (everestmax.com) for further details.

My involvement in the expedition begins at the end of March, when I will fly out to Kathmandu as part of the climbing team. We will then move to Base Camp and begin the process of acclimatisation and preparation for the climb. From then on, a great deal is down to luck! I am due back at the end of May.

Fundraising for the expedition has been going on for some time already, with many corporate sponsors providing equipment and financial support. There have also been two launch events in Cheltenham and one in London. Any cash donations are being split between the costs of the expedition and the three charities - SOS Children's Villages, Practical Action, and Merlin.

Rather than asking for individual sponsorship relating to how far I get, I am seeking your support in terms of a cash donation, whatever the outcome may be for me on the trip. The majority of people do not get much further than Advance Base Camp at 21,400 feet, for one reason or another, and my approach is that it is the taking part that will be worthwhile. It is also the people involved in the expedition that is my reason for wanting to do this, as well as being a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of an expedition attempting to complete a journey that has not been made before.

I would be very grateful for any amount that you can give towards the expedition and charities: please make cheques payable to S F Bullock and send to me at Boyne House, College Road, Cheltenham, GLOS GL53 7JD. You can follow the progress of the team on the website and I will let you know personally how I get on.

Many thanks in advance.
