1. The Chairman Will Kemp welcomed those members present and thanked all those who had supported the Club during the last year.
2. Minutes of the 2007 AGM had been circulated prior to the meeting and were therefore taken as read and agreed as a true record.
3. Secretary’s Report:
This has been a disappointing year for shooting alongside the schoolboys. Their time at Bisley has been much reduced and the long range September match is not scheduled this year. Efforts need to be made to re-schedule this match.
We have had applications from five new members, Matthew Dickins & Tim Burgess both 2008 leavers, Jonathan Abson one of our founders, & Duncan Pierce & Alex Goulden. Welcome to them all. From January 09 we will have to supply all members wishing to shoot 7.62 at Bisley (or other MOD ranges) with a Certificate of Safety & Competence signed by our Chairman. Those of you who have shot with us in the last two years will have been supervised and were assessed safe and competent, and will be sent this certificate in January. Those who have been shooters before, but who we have not seen recently, will be assessed on the day of their next shoot and then certified. These certificates (a small signed card) must be carried whenever shooting on an MOD range.
February 2008. S-B 0.22 match v School at Tonbridge. Won by the School 589 v 571 (out of 600)
Best OT’s, Ben Meredith & Richard Sankey 97/100.
April 2008 Morning7.62 practice at 300x. Afternoon F-B match v School at Bisley 600x using electronic targets. Declared a draw as the targets were malfunctioning sufficiently to make scores unreliable.
July 08. F-B Veterans at Bisley 500x. We entered two teams, but on the day could only raise five members to form an A team. Placed 37th. from 50 teams. Score 230 11v. Best OT Simon Hunter 47.5
September 08 F-B practice at Bisley 900x. As the School could not come, we held a club shoot. Best scores were Chris Boucher 47.5 & Will Kemp 47.1 Both out of 50.
Fletcher Cup 08 Postal Veteran’s match 0.22. A Team. Placed 9th. from 13 teams. Score 458 Best OT Toby Noar 97/100.
In addition to these matches, we held a very enjoyable September dinner in the Army Clubhouse.
Our OTRC shooting pages on the OT Society website have been well received by many OT’s and this is down to the work of Will Kemp. Thank you Will.
Club Ties are in stock and available from the Secretary at £18 each.
We need to recruit one or two teams for the Fletcher Cup postal 0.22 match this winter. If you can shoot one postal 10-bull card on your home range (or possibly at the school) please let the Secretary know. Stickers will be available soon.
4. Treasurer’s Report: See attached.
He talked members through the guidance notes at the end of his report and answered questions, mentioning particularly the convenience of e-banking for up-to-date information on the account. A direct debit for someone’s pet insurance had appeared on the account but this had been corrected by the bank. It was beneficial that members should pay in advance for the dinner, thus protecting our cash reserves.
The Secretary reported that he had sold the Swing club rifle for £594. It had not been used for several years, particularly since we obtained the two matching Grunig rifles. We purchased the Swing in 1995 for £600.
Both the Secretary and the Treasurer were thanked for their work during the year.
Proposed by Brian Barfoot, seconded by Robert Mitchell, the accounts were approved.
5. Subscriptions for 2008: Proposed by Ben Meredith, seconded by Toby Noar, it was agreed to keep subscriptions at the current level of £20 for non-NRA members (£17 for NRA members if we have to pay a £3 levy for non-NRA members in our affiliation fee to the NRA.)
The benefit of a free or reduced first year subscription for new OT’s was discussed and all agreed that this would not be implemented.
6. Election of Officers & Committee:
As there were no additional nominations, Robert Mitchell proposed, seconded by Jules Corin, that the officers should be elected en-bloc. This was agreed.
(List of officers on the main web page)
7. Events & Dates for 2007: See attached draft schedule.
The dates are to be confirmed by the Secretary when range bookings were agreed at Bisley. A dinner in September at Bisley was proposed as part of a shooting weekend.
The School will not be able to shoot in September at Bisley so the Secretary will attempt to arrange a long range match earlier in the year.
8. Any other business:
Jonathan Abson, one of the founder members, had given a donation to club funds and it was agreed by all that we should purchase two individual trophies for the club. A Jonathan Abson Shield for the highest OT score in the annual 0.22 match against the School and a Founder’s Cup for the OT highest aggregate score in the 0.22 and FB Short range matches.______________________________________________________________
